Looking For Alaska screencap by Alethea-sama Looking For Alaska screencap by Alethea-sama
SPOILERS~~~~~ DONT LOOOOOOOOK if you are reading this book and are not at this part XD. I warned you~~

I read Looking For Alaska in my english class this year, and I had to do a drawing of an important scene in the book for a character sketch. SO I picked the scene where Alaska is talking about her worst day. Screencap-y goodness.

This is beautiful. Looking For Alaska is one of my favorite books by John Green, and you managed to capture the sadness of this scene perfectly. I cant say just how much I loved this piece. Instant Fave.

This is lovely! Nice change to see art featuring young Alaska, not just Alaska in her Culver Creek days. Very powerful scene.

I loved that book. But I also hated it. I hated how self centered she was, and how she forgot about the colonel, and jake, and how her mother would want her to live. I hated how she made their lives painfull, but I loved how she made their lives exceptional while she was alive. Anyway, great screenapp

I can't believe there wasn't a single thing about nerdfighters on this comment page. :( go check it out, somewhere john green mentions them on his website {haha, UNITE}

but anyways, this is absolutely beautiful looking for Alaska art. kinda sad that there isn't much on deviant art, you are a rarity!

Aw, that is sooo sad! ;-; But it's a really nice picture.
I cried while reading that part in front of my bookclub. Which, I may add, is full of people at least two grades above me. Embarrasing.

I love the book. I really do. I'm currently reading 'An Abundance of Katherines' by John Green. I have ';Paper Towns' in line after I finish reading Abundance. Poor Alaska...

I like how you drew the expression.

It's so sad, all of their worst days are sad, I guess Lara's isn't that bad but, in a way it is. I just got done with this book tonight and I am in love with this book, I haven't read An Abundance of Katherines just yet but when it comes to my bookstore finally I want it sooo badly.

What did you think of it?
BoboeTheElf Featured By Owner Oct 19, 2008
An Abundance of Katherines is excellent! It is everything a teen book should be - quirky, hilarious, irreverent, profound, intelligent, sometimes sad, and vividly real.

I have so many favorite books - somewhere in the 100s, I think. But An Abundance of Katherines became immediately tied for Number One, along with The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
Tinkerbellprincess2 Featured By Owner Oct 19, 2008
I'm almost done with An Abundance of Katherines, and so far I feel ultimately bad for Colin, but he's kind of whiny.

Did you get Paper Towns?
I have sad Margo :)
BoboeTheElf Featured By Owner Oct 22, 2008
That's kind of why I relate to him. I was like that from hen I was 6 until I turned 15: too smart for other kids, nearly friendless, clingy, and whiny. But I got sick of feeling like that, so I changed my attitude. Ihave to say, I like myself much better now.

I have happy Margo.
Tinkerbellprincess2 Featured By Owner Oct 22, 2008
lol, I just finished An Abundance of Katherines last night and I'm frantically trying to get Paper Towns in before I have to read Twilight for my friend and then I have to read "Let it snow" before Winter is over and it won't have a purpose anymore.

When I was young I was the dumber kid :) But I was very emotionally mature for my age, and I still am. I guess. I got held back in Preschool though, it's still fuzzy as to why.
BoboeTheElf Featured By Owner Oct 23, 2008
Twilight... I'm known at my school for being a Twilight- hater. =D It had an interesting concept, but it was not executed well.

Oo, I want to read Let It Snow. I'm not one for romance, but if the story is excellent, then I'll accept the romance.

I'm emotionally mature for high school, which is why I think I piss off a lot of people. I don't buy into the drama, or the BS.

You got held back in preschool? Was that your parents' choice, or the decision of a teacher?
Tinkerbellprincess2 Featured By Owner Oct 23, 2008
I don't really want to read it... but my friends are really into it and I'm the one sitting there at lunch, writing in my notebook "Harry Potter is better and will always be the first."

I didn't know it was a romancy type of thing until my teacher read the back and I was surprised.

I sometimes piss off a few people, but I avoid drama and b.s. at all costs. One of my teachers even has a sign on the door that reads "When you enter, you will leave your b.s. at the door." It doesn't say the actual words but I find it halarious
BoboeTheElf Featured By Owner Nov 22, 2008
I do very much the same thing, except that I write "Avatar: The Last Airbender will always dominate Twilight". But Harry Potter is magnificent. Even if some people don't lke it, at least it's well written. I read some of Twilight. It was very much like reading a cliched, poofy, pukey fan-fic.

I want that sign! =D

>>Is it just me or is John Green SO good at foreshadowing?

I actually had to do an assignment about all the foreshadowing in that book. There is TONS XD~<3.

that scene was so sad. one of the many parts i cried during.
i wish we could read it for our english class...
you were made to read it, but did you enjoy it?
this is very good, is she supposed to have brown hair? i always pictured her blonde.
Alethea-sama Featured By Owner Mar 19, 2008  Student General Artist
I didnt enjoy it at first, but I really liked after a bit. So, yes I did enjoy it. I also enjoyed John Greens other book, an abundance of katherines. Have you read it?
A few people have said that she was blonde but I never read that anywhere in the book. Maybe I just missed it. IDK XD. I always pictured her with red/brown hair, mostly because I think green eyes and red hair look great together.
DefaultedMemory Featured By Owner Jul 12, 2008
One of the things i love about the book is it leaves most of the charactors apperiance to the imagination of the reader. I picture her with black hair, personally. Haha.
ConstantSideQuest Featured By Owner Mar 21, 2008
ooh, red hair does look good with green eyes. I'm still reading Katherines, so no spoilers, please!
I'm reading his books because I'm a fan of him, and his brother Hank. I don't suppose you've heard of thier youtube project, brotherhood 2.0?
well, they're amazing. john read the first chapter of his new book aloud in one of his vlogs. it's called Paper Towns, it comes out this fall, i think? and it sounds amazing. so i'll be waiting for that!

I really loved this book, actually.
I read An Abundance of Katherines.
I enjoyed that one too.
It had more of a...sarcastic comical take on it.
It also has some hilarious side notes and facts!
SaraKismet Featured By Owner Dec 27, 2007   Writer
What a drinking game to win.

It looks so sad... and she looks really vulnerable. A critique would be that her eyelashes are too thick -- for a girl her age, and that it almost made me think her eyes were black.
I like that everything is monochrome except for her, too.
